- Buy them a camera: This is the first step to get kids involved, you don't have to go out and get the most expensive camera but a cheap one. It will make them feel like a owner.
- Appreciate the pictures: Not much to say about this but it's obvious that you need to make their pictures appreciated!
- Encourage them to use and carry the camera: Make sure whenever you go out, that they have it! You never know when just going to the grocery store you can find the perfect picture.
- Share their point of view: Children won't know exactly what they are doing, so make sure you use simple words and don't do nothing to hard for them.
- Work with still objects: Moving objects are much harder than something that can't move, just make sure they start off easy. A good example would be a flower.
- Play with colors: Dont just use black and white, kids are kids they love colors.
- Take them through the city: Going to a city or somewhere busy will be very easy to get for anyone, not just kids, to find a great picture.
- Print their best photos: Of course you want to appreciate their pictures, but it's best to show the best ones, the ones that stand out. When you do that they will want to get better and better.
- Encourage them to keep working: This is common sense but don’t take them out for a week, then just drop it. It will be hard on them because they have learned to do something that seems interesting to them. Make sure they keep up what they could possibly make money from.
Even though these are simple things to remember to do, its always best to have a list to help you remember what to do. Starting off little is always best when your doing anything, they will fall in love and they will want to keep doing it. Just remember the best thing to do is encourage them!

Overall good post, I would have never thought to use children in a photography post. However, on number four you used a double negative and instead of using the word "nothing" you should use the word "anything". Also on number seven I would re-arrange that sentence, it kind of gets confusing. Other then that very good post.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sentence problems (:
DeleteI think getting kids to do photography is a good idea. I know I loved to take pictures as a kid because I was never the one to be in them.
ReplyDeleteTahnkyou! Starting out young is always good.
DeleteI like encouraging children to take an interest in art. I like the colors and how your formatting makes it easier to follow the steps. However, you are missing #1. What about offering some more advice on where to take kids to take photos and what kinds of cameras are good for kids?
